How Do I Correct An Error In My Journal?

NNA Hotline Tip Logo

I put the wrong date of notarization in my journal. May I cross it out and put new date with my initials or do I have to redo a new journal line?C.A., California

Professional practice suggests drawing a line through the incorrect information, printing the correct information and then initialing beside it.

Hotline answers are based on the laws in the state where the question originated and may not reflect the laws of other states. If in doubt, always refer to your own state statutes. – The Editors
