May A Notary Use Abbreviations When Filling Out A Certificate?

New Hotline Resized 3The notarial certificate doesn’t have enough space for me to print the word “August”.  I only have enough space to print “08”. Is this allowed? E. H., North Dakota

The standard of practice is to print the name of the month. If the space is limited, you may use the three-letter abbreviation of the month.
