Can I place my stamp below my signature on a document? All I can see is that it should be stamped beside my signature. I have documents that do not provide room for the stamp beside my signature. Where is it legal to place my Notary stamp on a document? — L.S., Indiana
The Indiana Notary Handbook indicates the following: “Affix the notary signature and stamp properly. The stamp should go in the immediate left or right of the notarial certificate and notary signature….. • If there is no space on the signature page for the notary stamp, attach a loose certificate or type out the certificate on the back of the document, sign, and affix your notary stamp.”
