As a Notary in Illinois, can I notarize a document for my parents? — N.R., Illinois
Yes. In Illinois, there are no restrictions regarding notarizing for relatives.
However, other states have different restrictions on notarizing for relatives. For example, Florida and Massachusetts prohibit notarizing for a Notary’s parents.
