Can I notarize signatures in more than one county?

If my Notary commission is filed in one county, can I notarize signatures in other counties in Alabama?P. R., Alabama

Yes. Notaries in Alabama have jurisdiction statewide and can perform authorized notarial acts in any county.

For information about Notary jurisdiction in other states, please see the NNA U.S. Notary Reference page.

Hotline answers are based on the laws in the state where the question originated and may not reflect the laws of other states. If in doubt, always refer to your own state statutes. – The Editors

Hey there I’m a notary in North Carolina, am I able to notarize in other county’s besides the one where I was commissioned? And if so when I’m notarizing a document in another county would i put the county that I’m notarizing at in the venue section of the document including the venue portion of my notary certificate? Or would I be putting the county where I’m commissioned?

Hello. North Carolina Notaries have statewide jurisdiction, so you may notarize anywhere within the borders of North Carolina. When completing the venue portion of a Notary certificate, you would enter the location where the notarization is taking place. For more information, please see here:
