May I notarize birth certificate copies in my state?

Can I certify a copy of a birth certificate in the state of Delaware?Y.B., Delaware

Delaware Notaries have the authority to certify copies of documents, however, you are prohibited from certifying copies of official or public records – such as birth certificates (29 DC 4321[3][d]).

Hotline answers are based on the laws in the state where the question originated and may not reflect the laws of other states. If in doubt, always refer to your own state statutes. – The Editors

If I am a notary for my place of employment, would I need to get a different notary stamp to notarize forms outside of my job or could I use the same one?

Hello. You would use the same stamp, regardless of where you perform notarizations.

I would like to know why is there so much buearacracy in the renewal of the Notary processing? The renewal is worse than a closing! This is my third renewal w/o any bad history. The renewal process is horrible!

Is a Promissory note the same as a “Promise to pay doc” in a mortgage?

I think I was scammed in to doing a notary for a company or person that I did not get paid for, what do you suggest I do next, I cannot get the person now and they used a restricted number the last time they contacted me. I did warn the person I was asked to contact about a possible scam and that she would make sure no charges, or anything happened to their credit card, I feel awful, and I intend to contact the Attorney General of my state.

I agree the renewal process is ridiculous. The State of California test has nothing to do with what we notaries do during a signing. It is also old fashioned (in this day of electronics,) To transfer answers to a form that has tiny little squares that you pencil in.
