Can a Notary Signing Agent work with multiple companies?

Can you be a Notary Signing Agent and work with multiple companies?W.M., Tennessee

Yes, you can. State law does not prohibit you from working with multiple companies and companies know that Notary Signing Agents can work for several companies. However, you should check each agreement you sign with the companies you contract with to ensure you have not agreed to any “non-compete” clauses limiting you to performing services for that company only.

Hotline answers are based on the laws in the state where the question originated and may not reflect the laws of other states. If in doubt, always refer to your own state statutes. – The Editors

Taking the NSA exam is not required in the state of Florida to become a loan signing agent. However, the NSA certification is very often a requirement of lenders, title companies, and signing agencies before they will hire you.
