Notary Quick-Start Training: Questions and answers

NQS-resized.jpgUpdated 8-9-22. Notaries nationwide now have access to the NNA’s new, Notary Quick-Start Training — an online course that walks you through what you need to know to get started taking acknowledgments and performing jurats with 5 steps to notarization. The training instructs you how to perform lawful, error-free notarizations that safeguard your customers, your employer and yourself.

Who needs Notary Quick-Start Training?

Any Notary may benefit from Notary Quick-Start Training. It teaches new Notaries how to carry out their duties correctly. For Notary veterans, it can be a good refresher course.

What will I learn from Notary Quick-Start?

You’ll learn the 5 steps to performing proper and lawful notarizations. These 5 steps will give you the skill and confidence to handle everyday notarizations — such as acknowledgments and jurats — with ease.

Notary Quick-Start Training will help you eliminate the common struggles many Notaries have while completing the most common notarizations.

How long does the training last?

It lasts 20 minutes.

Is Notary Quick-Start Training the same as my state-required training?

No. Notary Quick-Start Training teaches you how to perform notarizations — the practical details of notarization. State-required training simply instructs what the law is. Notary Quick-Start Training is supplemental training based on recognized Notary standards of practice. Because most states do not require training to become a Notary, Notary Quick-Start Training is an excellent way to get started.

Will Notary Quick-Start Training fulfill my employer’s request for compliance training?

For many employers, yes. Many banks and financial institutions that have compliance training requirements have their Notary-employees take Notary Quick-Start Training.

Can I take the training from home?

Yes. The training is available anytime, anywhere you have internet access.

Do I have to be an NNA member to take the training?

No. The training is available to all Notaries.

I took NNA Notary Essentials training. How is this different?

NNA Notary Essentials is a longer course and is state-specific training, while Notary Quick-Start training is based on Notary standards of practice that apply in any state.

Can I pause and resume training if I need to?

Yes. You have unlimited access to the training for 9 months.

Is there a quiz at the end of the training?

Yes. Ten questions follow the training for your self-review.

Is there a transcript or any notes included with the training?

Yes, the Notary Quick-Start Guide is included and can be printed at any time.

How do I start? How do I access the training?

You can start here: NNA Notary Quick-Start Training.

Is there a certificate of completion for this training?

Yes. The certificate may be printed at the end of your training.

Are there any technical requirements for the training?

Most will have no problem accessing the course. In the event you have difficulty, all system requirements are included on the Notary Quick-Start Training page.
