What if a loan signing packet requires no notarizations?

Photo of woman with long dark hair on phone. She is looking at papers in her hand. Text on image reads NNA Hotline Tip.

I have a request for refinance signing. The package has no documents to notarize, just a bunch of application documents needing signatures. Would I need to complete a signature acknowledgment for this package? Or just verify the customer’s ID and signatures?S. D., Florida

No, you would not need to complete an acknowledgment certificate for each signature, and yes, your role in this transaction would simply be to witness their signatures. In this particular transaction you are not acting as a Notary Public.

Just completed NSA exam for NNA. How can I find out what questions I answered wrong?

Hello. Please understand that this exam is a qualification test rather than an educational tool. This means we can provide only your final score, and we are unable to provide correct answers or indicate missed questions.

Hello, Reading the above topic of discussion, if a Loan Signing Package does not require any notarizations, and the Notary Public would not be acting in the capacity of a Notary Public, why would a company call on a Notary Public to complete the package?

BK Jackson, I would guess that they use us because we are background checked and bonded, so we are safer alternatives to go into people's homes than just a random person. Also, as NSAs we have training regarding general loan documentation that would make us more likely to spot issues with the documents and ensure dates are filled in, etc.
