Since Puerto Rico is a commonwealth of the United States, the seller should not need to visit an embassy or obtain an authentication for the document to be recognized or recorded in California. You can confirm this and receive any additional instructions by contacting the county clerk/recorder’s office in the county where the deed will be recorded.
