Does E&O insurance cover me as a Signing Agent?

Hello, please advise if my errors & omissions insurance covers me as a Signing Agent.I. W., Ohio

Notary Errors and Omissions insurance (E&O) will cover any negligent error or omission you make in notarizing documents as a Signing Agent. This would include the mortgage, deed of trust, conveyance deeds, and any affidavits or other documents in the loan package that must be notarized. Notary E&O will not cover errors you make on any of the documents in the loan package that are not notarized. So, if you forget to have the borrower sign the Notice of Right to Cancel and that results in a loss to the borrower or lender, Notary E&O won’t protect you. Notary E&O also will not protect you as a Signing Agent if you lose the loan documents. The key thing to remember is that Notary E&O covers what you do as a Notary.

I am need a reference point of contact for information as a Notary in the State of Georgia, regarding being a signing notary. Is it true that I have to be under an Attorney when signing. Need more information.

I'm still not convinced I need E&O insurance beyond my $100K E&O insurance. Most of my peers on FB are convinced that you there is insurance beyond the E&O for doing loan signings. If the E&O covers all notary work and you are not careless enough to lose a package or miss a deadline, then is more even necessary? I can't find the answer from anyone.

I'm confused about why my notary colleagues think you need E&O insurance for loan signings beyond the normal $100K for notarization work. They recommend getting insurance from HIscox, Biberk and others beyond the NNA $100K. If the notary is not careless, doesn't miss deadlines or lose packages, then what is the reason? Is this just false information being spread around?

If the NNA offers a Signing Agent Certification, why do you not offer insurance that covers the entire loan signing process?

Hello. We have looked into offering this type of insurance for Signing Agents, but the high cost of this type of insurance has caused us pause in offering this at present. However, we are still researching options to meet customer demand for this type of insurance.

Hello, I don't see that the question was answered here... If the E&O covers all notary work and you are not careless enough to lose a package or miss a deadline, then is more even necessary? Does anybody know? NNA?

Hi. If I have errors and omissions insurance being that I'm a licensed real estate agent, would additional E&O insurance be required specifically for notary services?

Hello. You would need to contact your insurance company to ask about Notary coverage for your policy.
