Saudi Notaries Required To Verify Identities Of All Clients

An electronic system will be established to help Notaries verify the legitimacy of an individual’s claim to be acting as a proxy. The new rule strengthens the trustworthiness and reliability of Saudi notarial services.The move is intended to reduce fraud and imposture, especially in cases involving women. Saudi women are often are represented in transactions by male relatives or legal proxies, leaving them prone to fraud. The Ministry’s order emphasizes the need to protect the rights and possessions of all its citizens, according to local media reports.
