Hotline Tip: When Fellow Notaries Commit Misconduct

NNA Hotline Tips For NotariesThere may be a case when you witness, or become aware of, a fellow Notary using his or her commission to commit a serious crime. This could include fraud or the unauthorized practice of law.

As part of your duty to protect the public, you should report this colleague to your Notary-regulating authority or the state Attorney General's office. Each state varies on how to report, but many allow the report to be filed electronically and anonymously.
