Conference 2011 Adding To List Of VIP Attendees

Maryland Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler has become the latest dignitary in a growing list of influential national political leaders and experts who will address the nation’s Notaries at the 33rd National Notary Association in Las Vegas May 23-26.

Gansler, who is scheduled to discuss the importance of America’s Notaries in today’s business climate during the Conference’s Welcome Reception, will be joined at by Alabama Secretary of State Beth Chapman, who will deliver the Keynote Address at the Gala Banquet May 25.

The attendance of these two elected officials highlights the important role the nation’s 4.8 million Notaries play in society’s daily transactions. While Gansler and Chapman are state officials, both hold major posts in their respective national organizations. Gansler is the Vice President of the National Association of Attorneys General, and Chapman is the President-Elect of the National Association of Secretaries of State. As such, their influence extends far beyond their state boundaries.

Gansler has been focusing on the role of Notaries in business transactions because Maryland was one of two states at the center of the nationwide foreclosure documents crisis. Chapman has been a long-time champion of addressing Notary concerns, twice hosting a conference for her state’s Notaries.

Other notable VIPs attending the Notary Event of the Year include nationally renowned legal scholar Patricia B. Fry, recipient of the NNA’s 2011 March Fong Eu Achievement Award, and Lori Hamm, the Notary Compliance & Education Officer for the Montana Secretary of State’s office.
