Hiring Increases Could Signal New Mortgage Activity

Mortgage lenders are beginning to hire new employees to service loans, a subtle sign that business could be picking up in the real estate industry.

The signs, though faint, indicate that increased activity could present new opportunities for Notary Signing Agents. After many months of declining activity, it may be time to reestablish relationships with lenders, title companies and signing agencies.

The number of people employed in the residential mortgage industry rose to 255,700 in November as the mortgage banker/broker sector hired 200 full-time mortgage brokers, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The gain was the first the industry has experienced since July. MortgageDaily.com also reported that lenders have hired nearly 9,000 people for mortgage jobs, citing announcements from the lenders themselves.
