Summary

House Bill 301 raises the following fees: commissioning, bond rider, duplicate certificate; and raise fees for authentications of notarial acts.

Affects

Amends Section 46-1-20 of the Utah Code Annotated.

Changes
  1. Increases the commissioning fee from $20 to $30.
  2. Increases the fee for a bond rider from $5 to $10.
  3. Increases the fee for a “Notary certification” (authentication) from $10 to $15 and an Apostille from $5 to $10.
  4. Increases the fee for a duplicate certificate to $10.
Analysis

House Bill 301 raises the following fees: commissioning, bond rider, duplicate certificate; and raise fees for authentications of notarial acts. The increased fees were enacted as part of a supplemental budget bill and, according to Notary Administrator Fran Fish, were unexpected.
