Summary

Rhode Island enacts the Uniform Real Property Electronic Recording Act, allowing Notaries to notarize electronic real property documents with electronic signatures.

Affects

Creates Chapter 13.2 of Title 34 of the Rhode Island General Laws.

Changes
  1. Enacts the Uniform Real Property Electronic Recording Act (URPERA).
  2. Allows Notaries to use electronic signatures in notarizing an electronic real property document.
  3. Does not require the use of a Notary seal on an electronic real property document.
  4. Allows each recorder of deeds to set standards to implement electronic recording.
