AnalysisHouse Bill 40 is a statutory revision bill in which minor wording changes are made that do not materially affect the meaning of a statute. Sometimes bills like this correct misspellings or punctuation errors or streamline the wording of a statute to read more consistently within the statutes. Such is the case with House Bill 40. In GS 10B-36, the words “internet site” are replaced with “website,” which is more understandable to most people. In GS 10B-126(e), “rule-making” has been changed to “rulemaking.” In the case of GS 10B-5(e), this subsection has been moved and added to the end of GS 10B-5(b)(8). The subdivision has been further amended by making stylistic changes that, in line with the rest of the bill, clarify and do not affect the meaning.
