Analysis

House Paper 850 repeals the new Notary Public Review Board, which was created in 2007 to investigate allegations into Notary misconduct and present recommendations for disposition of complaints to the Secretary of State. The statute creating the Board provided for the composition of the Board and their powers. The Board had the authority to recommend that a Notary’s commission be denied, suspended, revoked or not renewed or any other action the Board deemed appropriate. It had been inactive and was among other boards and commissions chosen for repeal.
