House Bill 99 makes it a Class A misdemeanor to knowingly act as a Notary Public without proper authority.
Adds Section 13A-10-132 to the Code of Alabama.
House Bill 99 makes it a Class A misdemeanor to knowingly act as a Notary Public without proper authority. This statute could be applied in the future to situations such as the robo-signing crisis where persons in the mortgage default industry knowingly notarized foreclosure affidavits with invalid commissions or without a commission.
