MS Administrative Rules (Improper Documents) - A newly adopted final rule prohibits Notaries from notarizing a signature if the Notary believes that the notarization is desired for an unlawful or improper purpose, and requires Notaries to examine the document to determine if the requested notarization is appropriate and not contrary to the public interest.

MS Administrative Rules (Authentications) - The Mississippi Secretary of State has adopted a new rule authorizing the Secretary to refuse authentication of a document when the Secretary has good reason to believe the authentication is desired for an unlawful or improper purpose, and requires the Secretary to examine the document to determine if the requested notarization is appropriate and not contrary to the public interest.

CT House Bill 6774 - Connecticut enacts the Uniform Power of Attorney Act (UPOAA), allowing a principal to sign a power of attorney or direct another person to sign the power of attorney in the principal's conscious presence, requiring a power of attorney to be acknowledged before a Notary or notarial officer, granting an acknowledged power of attorney a presumption of genuineness, and providing a statutory power of attorney form.
