OK Senate Bill 173 - Senate Bill 173 clarifies that the limit of notarizing a maximum of 20 absentee ballot affidavits for a single election does not apply to notarizations performed at the Notary's place of business during normal business hours, but does apply to any agency or entity that provides voter registration services as required by the National Voter Registration Act.

MT Administrative Rules (2015) - In light of Montana’s enactment of the Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts (RULONA), the Montana Secretary of State has adopted new rules, and repealed and amended existing rules.

MS Administrative Rules (Improper Documents) - A newly adopted final rule prohibits Notaries from notarizing a signature if the Notary believes that the notarization is desired for an unlawful or improper purpose, and requires Notaries to examine the document to determine if the requested notarization is appropriate and not contrary to the public interest.

MS Administrative Rules (Authentications) - The Mississippi Secretary of State has adopted a new rule authorizing the Secretary to refuse authentication of a document when the Secretary has good reason to believe the authentication is desired for an unlawful or improper purpose, and requires the Secretary to examine the document to determine if the requested notarization is appropriate and not contrary to the public interest.

DC Bulletin 15-ID-8-10/23 - A new bulletin issued by the District of Columbia Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking clarifies that Notary Signing Agents operating within the District may perform loan signings without having to be licensed as a title insurance producer.

MT Senate Bill 306 - Montana enacts the Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts (RULONA) and is the second state to allow some notarizations to be performed using audio-visual technology.

NV Senate Bill 446 - Senate Bill clarifies that if a notarial officer signing a certificate is a Notary Public, the Notary must sign with the name as on file with the Secretary of State.

LegislationOct 01, 2015 - Connecticut
CT House Bill 6774 - Connecticut enacts the Uniform Power of Attorney Act (UPOAA), allowing a principal to sign a power of attorney or direct another person to sign the power of attorney in the principal's conscious presence, requiring a power of attorney to be acknowledged before a Notary or notarial officer, granting an acknowledged power of attorney a presumption of genuineness, and providing a statutory power of attorney form.
