Signed:
March 27, 2015
Effective:
July 01, 2015
Chapter: TBD
Affects:Fees charged by the Lieutenant Governor's office
Changes: - Reduces the fee to $50 from $65 for expedited processing of an apostille or certification within 2 hours of the request, if presented before 3:00 p.m.
- Reduces the fee to $25 from $40 for expedited processing of an apostille or certification by the end of the next business day.
Analysis:As part of the state of Utah's budget bill, Senate Bill 8 reduces the fees charged for expedited processing of apostilles and certifications. In some instances, timely issuance of an apostille or certification is needed to facilitate a business or personal need. Some state issuing offices have established expedited processing fees to accommodate these requests. It should be noted that Senate Bill 8 doesn't raise the fees for the apostille or certification itself; these fees remain at the current $15. The budget bill also leaves untouched the fees for Notary applications, testing and duplicate Notary commissions.
