Summary

Assembly Bill 192 allows the additional surcharge of $5 per Notary bond filed with a county clerk to remain in effect indefinitely.

  1. Removes the sunset date on the provision in the Nevada Revised Statutes allowing a county clerk to charge an additional $5 to file a Notary bond until July 1, 2013.
Analysis
Statute in Nevada (NRS 19.031(1) requires a county clerk to charge $15 for filing and recording every Notary bond. In 2007, the Nevada Legislature passed NRS 19.013(2) to allow county clerks to charge an additional fee not to exceed $5 for the filing of every Notary Public bond. This statute was set to “sunset” on July 1, 2013. Assembly Billl 192 removes the sunset date, allowing the additional surcharge to remain in effect indefinitely.
