Analysis

House File 155 raises the statutory maximum fees Notaries may charge for their services, in most cases from $1 to $5. The last time the fee statute was amended was 1986; therefore, an adjustment to the fee schedule was overdue and the increase is welcome. The new law takes effect on August 1, 2014.
