Analysis

Legislative Document 384 is essentially a bill to study the Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts (RULONA) for possible future enactment. In conducting this review, the Secretary of State may consult with state and national associations for Notaries Public, as well as other experts in the field of notarial law and practice. Last year a similar bill was introduced and defeated. Therefore, it is a positive development for this bill to pass and become law this time around. The NNA supports RULONA enactments across the United States as a means for updating antiquated Notary statutes and allowing Notaries to perform notarial acts with respect to electronic records.
