MD Senate Bill 667

Legislation

State: Maryland
Signed: April 11, 2023

Effective: April 11, 2023
Chapter: 49

Summary

Senate Bill 667 corrects a minor technical ommission in ACM (State Government) 18-214.

Affects

Amends section 18–214(n)(3) of the Annotated Code of Maryland (State Government).

Changes
  1. Adds the omitted word “public” after Notary.
Analysis

When Maryland enacted paper remote notarization in 2022, one of the new provisions pertaining to the identification of a remotely located individual was added to the statute that referred to a “Notary” rather than a “Notary Public.” Since "Notary Public" is the formal and proper title of a Maryland Notary, Senate Bill 667, Maryland’s annual corrective bill, fixes the minor omission of "public" from the Notary's title in this one place, and corrects other technical errors and omissions in various articles of the Annotated Code and in uncodified laws.
