CO Senate Bill 294

Notary Law Update: CO Senate Bill 294

State: Colorado

Summary:

Senate Bill 294 changes the effective date of Senate Bill 132 (RULONA)

Signed:  May 25, 2017

Effective:  July 01, 2018

Chapter: TBD

Affects:

The effective date of the changes made by the enactment of Senate Bill 132, the Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts.

Changes:
  1. Changes the effective date of SB 132 (the Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts) from August 9, 2017 to July 1, 2018.
Analysis:

The purpose of SB 294 (see Section 121 of the bill text below) is to correct the effective date of Senate Bill 132, the Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts. When SB 132 was enacted, it specified August 9, 2017 as the effective date. However, given that SB 132 replaces Colorado's existing Notary statutes, a delayed effective date was sought. SB 294, therefore, makes the effective date for SB 132 July 1, 2018.
