CA Senate Bill 1330

Notary Law Update: CA Senate Bill 1330

State: California

Summary:

Senate Bill 1330 makes minor, technical amendments to California Civil Code Section 1185 that do not affect the meaning or interpretation of the statute.

Signed:  September 25, 2010

Effective:  January 01, 2011

Chapter: 328

Affects:

Amends Section 1185 of the Civil Code

Changes:
  1. Makes minor, technical changes that do not affect the sense or interpretation of the statute.
Analysis:

Periodically the reviser of statues makes corrections to all 29 California Codes. These corrections are usually minor in nature and do not affect the meaning of the statute. In the current Civil Code Section 1185 for example, a foreign passport constitutes satisfactory evidence of identity if it has been stamped by the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service. The amendment now reads “United States Citizenship and Immigration Services of the Department of Homeland Security.” This change reflects the realignment of the BCIS under Homeland Security made during the former president George W. Bush administration.
