AnalysisThe National Notary Association always supports legislation that adds a notarization requirement or adds notarization as one way to execute a document. The latter is the case with Senate Bill 1094. Oklahoma law now allows a health care power of attorney to be notarized. This is important because some individuals may find it easier and more convenient to have their power of attorney notarized, or others may not be able to find two witnesses to watch them sign the power of attorney. Choice is always good, and notarization is an excellent choice because it imparts an additional layer of security to the signature on a document as important as a power of attorney.
