What should I know about your live webinars via Zoom?

If you've never used Zoom before and would like to install it on your device in advance, please visit https://zoom.us/download.

  • Training materials for your webinar will be mailed to you at no additional charge upon confirmation of your order.
  • On the day before your webinar, you'll receive an email at 5:00 p.m. with instructions to download Zoom and to pre-register. You must pre-register at that time to confirm your attendance.
  • On the morning of your webinar, make sure to give yourself time to log in. The Zoom meeting room will open at 8:00 a.m. and will be locked at 8:30 a.m. Late arrivals will be rescheduled.
  • The training will start promptly at 8:30 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m., with two 15-minute breaks and a 1-hour lunch break.

Is there a schedule for the exam sessions?

For your convenience, morning and afternoon exams are available. To ensure the health and safety of everyone present, you will be required to sign a wellness declaration at check-in.

What health precautions can I expect at your venues?

The CA Department of Public Health announced that effective April 1, 2022, the requirement for vaccine verification or proof of negative test for attendees at Indoor Mega Events has been lifted and has moved to a strong recommendation.

How can I protect myself and others at the exam?

Here's how you can prepare in advance and do your part on the day of your seminar or exam.

  • Bring your own water, coffee, or tea. 
  • Bring gloves, hand sanitizer, and disinfecting wipes if you'd like.
  • We will contact you if additional precautions are needed.

Is parking provided at your exam locations?

Parking is on your own. Contact the venue for information on parking locations and rates. Please be aware that some venues do not provide in-and-out privileges.

What should I bring to the exam?

Please be prepared on the day of your exam by bringing the following:

  • A printout of the Proof of Completion of your Notary training.
  • A Notary Public application (all pages, including instructions), or you may pick one up at the venue.
  • A check or money order for $40.00 payable to "Secretary of State" ($20.00 for those re-taking the exam). Cash and temporary checks are not accepted.
  • A current (not expired) state-issued picture ID such as a:
    • California driver's license or DMV-issued ID card
    • Canadian or Mexican driver's license
    • Passport (U.S. or foreign)
    • U.S. military ID card

IMPORTANT: If a driver's license issued by the DMV has a punched hole in the card, it is NOT acceptable. Paper driver's licenses, including paper license extensions issued by the DMV, are not accepted.

Can I use a foreign passport as my identification?

If you ONLY have a foreign passport as your form of ID, you must present two additional supporting documents. Choose two from the list below:

  • Utility bill with your address
  • Jurisdictional voter registration card
  • Vehicle registration card/title
  • Paycheck stub
  • Jurisdictional public assistance card
  • Spouse/parent affidavit
  • Canceled check or bank statement
  • Mortgage documents

Do I need to buy training materials for the class?

All workbooks and materials will be provided to you at no additional charge.

May I record the training to study for the exam?

No. Audio and video recordings of our live training are strictly prohibited.

Is my Notary training tax-deductible?

All expenses (registration, travel, meals, and lodging) of education undertaken to maintain or improve your professional skills are tax-deductible (Treasury Regulation 1.162-5). State deductions are subject to limitations of the tax code. See your tax preparer for advice.

What if I need to reschedule, transfer, or cancel my training?

As a reminder, state rules prohibit late arrivals from admission into a training or exam that has begun. To reschedule, transfer, or cancel your training or exam, call 1-800-876-6827 at your earliest convenience.

  • You can reschedule your training or exam at no charge.
  • Cancellations will receive a full refund upon request.
  • Cancellation, transfer, and refund policies are subject to change without notice.
