What to know when renewing your Vermont Notary Commission

  • All Vermont Notary commissions expire at midnight on January 31st of odd-numbered years.
  • Training course:  Renewing Notaries must complete one hour of continuing education unless exempt. You must submit your certificate of completion with your application.
  • Application: Complete your renewal application online and pay your application fee.
  • Supplies: Vermont Notaries are required to get an official stamp if they choose not to print or type their name and commission number on each notarial certificate. While a Notary Journal is not required by law, maintaining a record of your notarial acts is considered a best practice for Notaries.
