In Vermont, a Notary who wants to perform electronic notarizations (IPEN/eNotarization) or remote online notarizations (RON) must obtain a Special Endorsement in addition to their regular Notary commission. This course contains all state-required information to apply for this special endorsement.
What the Special Endorsement Allows
The endorsement authorizes a Vermont Notary to:
- Perform notarizations on electronic records
- Perform notarizations for remotely located individuals using approved communication technology (RON)
Without the endorsement, Vermont Notaries may only notarize paper records for signers physically present before them.
Continuing Education Requirement
When renewing the Special Endorsement, the Notary must complete:
- 1 additional hour of continuing education
- The course must relate to:
- electronic notarization,
- remote notarization,
- or both.
Your renewal application must include the certificate of completion from this course.
