  • Confirm your eligibility. You must be at least 18 years old; a resident of or employed in Oregon; able to read and write English; not have been convicted within the past 10 years of a felony or a crime involving fraud, dishonesty, or deceit; and not have had a Notary commission revoked within the past 10 years.
  • Complete required training. You must take a state-approved Notary training course within six months before your exam.
  • Pass the required exam. Oregon requires applicants to pass an exam, which is included as part of the application process.
  • Submit your application. Complete the application and undergo a criminal background check upon submission.
  • Use required supplies. Oregon Notaries must use a rubber stamp ink seal and maintain a journal for all paper notarizations.
