I reached out to the Notary Hotline for clarification of a difficult situation and was provided with concise, clear, and documented information.

Compared to the support received from many companies today, the support from the NNA Hotline or just general questions seeking guidance and/or direction the NNA is the Gold Standard.

Amazing company!
They try and facilitate everything, and they have an actual call support line!

What to know when applying to become an Ohio Notary Public

  • Make sure you’re eligible. To apply, you must be 18 years old or older, a resident of Ohio, and you cannot have a criminal record that includes fraud, theft, violent crime, or other disqualifying offenses. Pass a state-required Criminal Records Check through an authorized agent.
  • Attorney exemptions apply. Non-resident attorneys who practice law in Ohio are eligible to become Notaries in Ohio. Attorneys must complete a three-hour Notary training course but do not have to take the exam.
  • Complete your Ohio Notary application. Fill out and submit your State of Ohio Notary application online with the Ohio Secretary of State.
  • An Ohio Notary commission is 5 years. You are appointed and commissioned by the Ohio Secretary of State, not by the National Notary Association.
