Your Nebraska Notary Surety Bond

Nebraska law requires all Notaries to purchase and maintain a $15,000 Notary surety bond for the duration of their 4-year commission. The cost of a Nebraska Notary bond is $40, and protects the general public of Nebraska against any financial loss due to improper conduct by a Nebraska Notary. The bond is NOT insurance protection for Nebraska Notaries.

Do I need anything besides my bond?

You can purchase your Nebraska Notary bond on its own or as part of a Nebraska Notary package. To purchase a package that includes your state-required Notary bond, official Notary stamp, NNA Notary Hotline support and everything you need to properly perform your duties, see our New Nebraska Notary or Renewing Nebraska Notary packages.

How to process your bond

Once you have passed the state-required tests, send your bond (along with completed application) to:

Notary Division
P.O. Box 95104
Lincoln, NE 68509-5104

We also recommend you protect yourself for the length of your 4 year Nebraska Notary commission term with Errors & Omissions insurance.
