Why Renew Your Illinois Notary Bond with the NNA

To renew your commission, you are required to submit a new application with a $5,000 Notary bond that covers the four-year commission period. When you purchase a bond through the NNA, we will review your Notary application thoroughly before sending it to the state. Your renewal supply package includes the bond, appointment fee and access to the NNA hotline. The hotline is staffed with experts who can answer questions about unfamiliar signing situations.

Non-residents who want to renew their commission must submit a non-resident application and purchase a $5,000 bond for a one-year appointment.

The NNA is not a commissioning authority. You are appointed and commissioned by the Illinois Index Department.
