What to know when applying to become an Arkansas Notary Public

Arkansas Notary Requirements

  • Check eligibility requirements: You must be at least 18 years old, a citizen or permanent legal resident of the U.S., a legal resident of Arkansas*, and able to read and write English.
A revoked Notary Public commission in the past 10 years or felony conviction disqualifies you from becoming an Arkansas Notary.
  • Pass the Notary exam: Create an account on the Arkansas Secretary of State website to take the exam. A passing score is required to access the Notary Public application form.
  • Get your commission from the state: Allow 2-4 weeks for the Arkansas SOS to process your application and commission you as a Notary Public.
  • *For full eligibility details, see our guide on how to become an Arkansas Notary.

All NNA Notary packages include your bond, state-approved stamp, and expert resources to succeed.

Bonds and E&O policies are issued by Merchants Bonding Company (Mutual). NNA Insurance Services, LLC (California License #0668915) is the agent for all bonds and policies. The coverage under any issued policy will be determined solely by that policy’s terms and conditions, regardless of anything stated here to the contrary. Your commission number, if applicable, and the dates your commission starts and ends are required to activate your policy.
