What to know when applying to become a Florida Notary Public

  • Make sure you’re eligible. You must be 18 years old or older, a legal resident of Florida, and not a convicted felon (unless your civil rights have been restored).
  • It can take 2 to 4 weeks to get commissioned. You're commissioned by the Florida Department of State and appointed by the Governor, not by the National Notary Association.
