NASS President-Elect Beth Chapman to Keynote Annual Conference

Los Angeles, California - March 10, 2011

LOS ANGELES — The National Notary Association, the leader in best practices, training, and advocacy for the nation’s 4.8 million Notaries, is pleased to announce that Alabama Secretary of State and National Association of Secretaries of State President-Elect Beth Chapman will deliver the keynote address at its 33rd Annual Conference in Las Vegas, May 22-26 at the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino.

An expert in Notary compliance and risk management, who has twice hosted conferences for Notaries on state law and best practices, Secretary Chapman is perfectly suited to keynote this year’s conference, which is focused on Managing Risks in Today’s World — a theme designed to help attendees learn the strategies and best practices to manage risk in today’s complex legal landscape.

“This year’s Conference offers guidance for Notaries at every level — from employees and their supervisors to risk managers and entrepreneurs,” said National Notary Association Chief Executive Officer Marc Reiser. “As a champion for Notaries in her state — and soon on the national level — we are pleased to have Secretary Chapman address the nation’s Notaries about the challenges and risks in today’s business climate.”

Elected Secretary of State in 2006, Chapman has streamlined the state’s Business Division and brought them into the 21st Century with electronic online business filings. She created Alabama’s first Voter Fraud Task Force, a branch of her office to combat voter fraud, and is also known as a national leader in the effort to develop online voting for military personnel to better serve those who serve abroad. Under her leadership in 2008, the number of Alabama voter’s increased by approximately 200,000 and her office successfully achieved the largest voter turnout for a presidential election in state history.
