Your Mississippi Notary Surety Bond

Mississippi law requires all Notaries to purchase and maintain a $5,000 Notary surety bond for the duration of their 4-year commission. The cost of a Mississippi Notary bond is $45, and protects the general public of Mississippi against any financial loss due to improper conduct by a Mississippi Notary. The bond is NOT insurance protection for Mississippi Notaries.

Do I need anything besides my bond?

You can purchase your Mississippi Notary bond on its own or as part of a Mississippi Notary package. To purchase a package that includes your Notary bond, official Notary stamp, journal, Notary Hotline support and everything you need to properly perform your duties, see our New Mississippi Notary or Renewing Mississippi Notary packages.

How to process your bond

Once you have mailed or emailed your pre-commission letter to the NNA, your bond will be issued and mailed to you. Within 60 days of your application, complete your Notary bond and oath and send it to:
Secretary of State
Notary Division
P.O. Box 136
Jackson, MS 39205-0136

We recommend you also protect yourself for the length of your 4 year, Mississippi Notary commission term with E&O insurance.
