Bonds, Liability Insurance and Supplies

As an Immigration Forms Specialist, your state may require you to have a bond to protect your clients. To protect yourself from a claim filed against your bond, consider having professional liability insurance.

Bond requirements for your state

California

You must file a two-year bond before you apply to the Secretary of State.

New York

You must file a one-year bond before you can be licensed.

Georgia

You must file a one-year bond before you apply to the Secretary of State.

Utah

You must file a one-year bond before you apply to the Department of Commerce.

Nevada

You must file a one-year bond with your application to the Secretary of State.

Professional liability insurance

No matter how careful you are, mistakes can happen. Or a client can file a false claim against you. Either way, just to prove you acted responsibly, a lawsuit could cost you thousands of dollars.
