The Conference

The NNA is dedicated to providing a harassment-free and inclusive event experience for everyone regardless of gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disabilities, neurodiversity, physical appearance, body size, ethnicity, nationality, race, age, religion, or other protected categories. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

Code of Conduct

At all NNA conferences, our goal is to provide a safe and positive event experience, and we expect our attendees, exhibitors, and speakers to follow this Code of Conduct. Unacceptable Behavior will not be tolerated at any time and may result in immediate removal from the conference, in-person or virtual.

Expected Behavior

  • Be considerate of those with whom you may interact.
  • Be collaborative with others.
  • Be respectful of others’ viewpoints that may differ from yours.
  • Be mindful of your words and actions.
  • Be mindful of your alcoholic intake at our events and drink responsibly.
  • Comply with all rules, policies and procedures of the facilities at which any Event is being held
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations in the state where the Event is being held

Unacceptable Behavior

  • Offensive or unwanted behavior or language, including, but not limited to, discriminatory behavior or language based on race, religion, color, national origin, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, transgender status, age, disability, veteran or marital status, or any other similar categories. Intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory, or demeaning speech or actions will not be tolerated.
  • Intimidation or bullying, either online or in person.
  • Visibly intoxicated and creating a disturbance.
  • Possession of a weapon or something that could be construed as a weapon during the event or on video.
  • Photographing, video- or audio-recording of slides, oral, or poster presentations for anything other than personal use without presenter/author’s / NNA permission.
  • Possession or mention of illegal substances during the event or on video.
  • Sharing your event registration information, including your conference badge, with another person(s).
  • Inappropriate disruption of events.
  • Real or implied threat of professional or financial damage or harm.
  • Violating the rules of the online platform on which the event is held.
  • Any other illegal activity not already covered above.

Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior

Unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated. Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately. If a Participant engages in unacceptable behavior, the NNA may take any action it deems appropriate, including warning or expelling the offender from the event with no refund. For more egregious behavior, the NNA may, in its reasonable discretion, temporarily ban or permanently expel a Participant from future events.

What to do if You Witness or are Subjected to Unacceptable Behavior

If you are subjected to unacceptable behavior, notice that someone else is being subjected to unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, please notify NNA event staff as soon as possible. NNA event staff will be available to assist those experiencing unacceptable behavior to feel safe for the duration of the event. All reports will remain confidential.

Age Restriction

For safety reasons, anyone under the age of 18 is not allowed to register or attend an NNA conference. Strollers or infant carriers are not permitted at any time. Only registrants can be present in conference workshops, exhibit hall, main ballroom, store, and receptions.
