Tim Reiniger

Director, Reiniger, LLC

Timothy Reiniger serves as Director of Reiniger LLC in Portland, Maine, where he provides advisory services relating to information trust and governance law and policy. Previously, he served as the third Executive Director of the National Notary Association.

Tim has authored and spearheaded first in the nation laws for remote/online notarization (2011) and digital identity management in electronic commerce (2015). As a result of these efforts, he was appointed as an ABA Advisor to both the Uniform Law Commission’s drafting committee to amend the Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts and the Identity Management in Electronic Commerce Study Committee. And, in 2016, Tim had the honor of serving on the Advisory Committee to develop the National Notary Association’s Model Electronic Notarization Act (issued in 2017).

An internationally recognized expert on electronic signature law, identity law and policy, and notarial law, Tim currently serves on the Advisory Board of the European Union’s LIGHTest Project and as a Vice-Chair of the Information Security Committee of the ABA’s Science & Technology Law Section. He is a member of the California, District of Columbia, and New Hampshire Bars.
