Governor Reynolds extends the temporary remote notarization authorization initially issued on March 22, 2020, and revised on April 2, 2020, through May 27, 2020.

Changes:
  1. Extends the temporary remote notarization authorization through May 27, 2020, but only to the extent that the notarial act complies with the requirements of section 6 of 2019 Iowa Acts chapter 44 (Senate File 475) and any additional guidance provided by the Iowa Secretary of State.
  2. Extends the authorization for a testator, settlor, principal, witness, or other person to appear via videoconference programs such as Skype, Facetime, Zoom, or other means if the person is present and can be seen and heard by these means.
Analysis:

In this April 27, 2020, Proclamation, Iowa Governor Reynolds once again extends the temporary authorization allowing Notaries to perform notarial acts for remotely locate individuals in compliance with the requirements of Senate File 475 of 2019, which is scheduled to take effect on July 1, 2020. This proclamation follows the Governor's April 2, 2020, Proclamation, which extended this authorization through April 27, 2020.
