Conference Workshops Explore New Standard Of Care

Liability concerns continue to grow, and the public’s demands to protect their transactions from fraud have never been more urgent. That’s why the entire slate of workshops and programs at the NNA’s 2010 Conference are designed to guide Notaries through “The New Standard of Care” — the mandate that Notaries must follow higher professional standards of practice that go beyond the minimum requirements set in state Notary statutes.

In today’s atmosphere of fraud and forgery, simply following your state laws is not enough to protect the public from harm, according to a precedent-setting decision issued by the Illinois Court of Appeals. Notaries who attend Conference 2010 in Chicago will leave with the knowledge and tools they need to protect the public and avoid serious legal issues that they and their employers increasingly face.

Conference 2010 — scheduled for June 14-17 at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois — will present 22 workshops and labs along with four general sessions that focus on best practices and essential protection strategies for liability. And Delegates who attend any combination of seven workshops/labs and two general sessions will receive a Certificate of Continuing Education recognizing the New Standard Of Care.

Also among the educational opportunities will be sessions that show how fundamental practices prevent costly missteps, and how a new standard of professionalism will help advance career and business opportunities. The workshop slate includes sessions on the implications of key court rulings; the truth about Notary liability; what employers need to know; and common mistakes Notaries need to avoid.
