Hotline Tip: Should The Time Of Notarization Be Recorded In The Journal?

NNA Hotline Tips For NotariesA Notary colleague pointed out to me that I am supposed to record the time of the notarization in my journal entries. I've never done that, so should I go back and try to enter them now? - L.T., Novato, CA

State law does require the time and date in each journal entry. However, there is no way to go back and fill in the time with accuracy, so be sure to adopt the practice going forward.
