Setting the Standard for Notarial Law in the United States
The Model Notary Act is a comprehensive statute prototype designed to modernize the Notary Public office. The original Uniform Notary Act was created in a special collaboration with Yale Law School. Revisions over the years have been influenced by many, including Secretaries of State, MIT, Fortune 500 companies and law firms across the country.
For the last three decades, legislators and Notary-regulating officials have borrowed extensively from the Model Act in reforming state and territorial Notary laws. In some states, only a few sections were adopted; on others, the model was enacted in full.
