How to Renew as an Ohio Notary in Three Easy Steps

Step 1 Obtain your state-required seal and recommended supplies

The NNA will provide everything you need to help complete your Ohio Notary renewal, including your official seal stamp and supplies. 

Step 2 Complete your Ohio Notary Public Application
Be sure to complete the Ohio Notary renewal application following the instructions on the Ohio Secretary of State website.

Step 3 Renew Your Ohio Notary Commission

When you have obtained your commission, scan and email a copy of your Commission Certificate to or fax to 1-800-833-1211.

Requirements to Become
an Ohio Notary

  • 18 years of age
  • State resident or resident of another state who is an attorney admitted to the practice of law in Ohio and has principal place of business or primary practice in Ohio
  • Must read, write and understand English
  • No lifetime felony conviction
