    Eligibility
    • Be at least 18 years old
    • Be a resident of Utah for at least 30 days immediately preceding appointment and maintain residency in Utah thereafter
    • If not a Utah resident, have permanent resident status under Section 245 of the Immigration and Nationality Act.
    • Be able to read, write, speak and understand English
     

    Application and Bond Filing Procedures
    Call the NNA at 1-800-US NOTARY (1-800-876-6827) if you have any questions during this process.
    • Order your Complete Notary Supply Package (see "Become" and "Renew" links above) — which includes your State-required Notary Bond*.
    • Pass the State-required Notary Exam.
    • Receive your State-issued Letter of Passing (within 4 to 6 weeks).
    • Forward a COPY of your Letter of Passing to the NNA for processing.
    • We will mail your activated Notary Bond to you via First Class mail.
    • Submit your Notary Public Application to the State, enclosing your $30 State application fee, completed bond, original** Letter of Passing, copy of birth certificate or US Passport.
