    Eligibility
    • Be at least 18 years old
    • Be a Kentucky resident who lives or is employed in the county where applying, or a non-resident of Kentucky principally employed in the county where applying
    • Be of good moral character (i.e., not be a convicted felon unless civil rights have been restored by executive order)
    • Be capable of discharging the duties of a Notary
     

    Application and Bond Filing Procedures
    Call the NNA at 1-800-US NOTARY (1-800-876-6827) if you have any questions during this process.
    • Confirm with your County Clerk that it accepts out-of-State Notary Bonds and place a separate order for a bond.*
    • Order your Complete Notary Supply Package (see "Become" and "Renew" links above).
    • Submit your Notary Public Application to the State, enclosing your State application fees.
    • Receive your State-issued Notice of Appointment (within 4 to 6 weeks).
    • Forward a COPY of your Notice of Appointment to the NNA for processing.
    • We will mail your activated Notary Bond to you via First Class mail.
    • File your Notary Bond with the County Clerk.
